Overview

Games For Crowds ("we," "us," "our," or "Company," legal entity Loquiz OÜ, incorporated in Estonia, European Union) uses cookies and similar technologies on gamesforcrowds.com and our gameplay domain g4c.app (together, the "Website") to keep the Website and games working, remember your consent choice, support our newsletter sign-up form, and understand how visitors use our site. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we set, why we use them, and how you can manage them.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit and enable certain functionality. Some cookies are set by us ("first-party") and some are set by service providers whose scripts we embed ("third-party").

Similar technologies: Where this policy refers to cookies, it also covers comparable techniques that store or read information on your device, such as browser localStorage and sessionStorage, software development kits, and tracking pixels. We apply the same categories, legal bases, and consent rules to these technologies as we do to cookies.

Cookie Categories We Use

1. Strictly Necessary / Essential Cookies

Purpose: These cookies are required for core website and gameplay functionality, for security, and for honouring your privacy choices. They enable features that you actively request and must be enabled for the Website to work properly.

Your Control: These cookies cannot be switched off through our consent banner without affecting Website functionality. If you block them in your browser, you may be unable to save your consent preference, sign in, or join or play a game.

Legal basis: Necessary cookies do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive, as they are essential to provide the service you requested.

Provider Privacy Policy: Cloudflare Privacy Policy

2. Functional Cookies (Newsletter Form)

Purpose: These cookies support our newsletter sign-up form — for example, by recording that a form has already been shown to you or that you have already submitted it, so the same form is not displayed repeatedly. They are set by MailerLite through an embedded third-party script and are used only to deliver the sign-up form itself; they are not used for analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking. They are therefore treated as necessary for that feature and are not covered by a separate consent toggle.

Data Handled: MailerLite may receive the information necessary to deliver the newsletter form, such as your browser and device information and your interaction with the form.

Your Control: You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings. If you do, the newsletter form may be displayed to you again even if you have already seen or submitted it.

Provider Privacy Policy: MailerLite Cookie Policy

3. Analytics Cookies / Optional

Purpose: We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors interact with our Website and games. This helps us measure usage, improve our services, diagnose performance issues, and optimise the user experience.

These cookies are consent-gated: the analytics scripts are loaded, and these cookies are set, only after you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner.

Data Collected:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • Approximate geographic location (country/city level)
  • Traffic source (how you arrived at our Website)
  • User interactions and events

Data Handling: Google receives information such as pages visited, device and browser information, approximate location, traffic source, and interactions or events. We do not intentionally send email addresses, payment details, or other directly identifying information to analytics tools through cookies.

Campaign Parameters: Links to our Website may include campaign tracking parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and similar). These are not cookies — they are part of the URL you clicked. Google Analytics reads them to attribute your visit to a traffic source, and our gfc_utm cookie stores them for the same purpose. Both are processed only after you accept analytics cookies.

Legal basis: Consent. These cookies are only set after you accept them through our cookie consent banner (see "Managing Your Consent" below).

Provider Privacy Policy: Google Privacy Policy

Cookies We Do Not Use

We do not set advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies on the Website. We do not sell or share your personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles from your browsing behaviour.

International Data Transfers

Some of the providers named in this policy are established outside the European Economic Area, or process data on servers outside the EEA (in particular Google, Cloudflare, and MailerLite, which are US-based). Where cookie data is transferred outside the EEA, the transfer is protected by an appropriate safeguard under Chapter V of the GDPR — in practice the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and otherwise the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses together with supplementary measures. You can request further information about these safeguards using the contact details below.

Your Rights

Where cookie data constitutes personal data, you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy — including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability — and the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our lead supervisory authority is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, aki.ee).

Managing Your Consent

Cookie Consent Banner: On your first visit, the Website displays a cookie consent banner with a single optional choice: whether to allow Analytics cookies. Until you make a choice, no analytics cookies are set, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. Strictly Necessary cookies, and the newsletter-form cookies described above, are always active because the Website cannot provide the requested service without them. Your analytics choice is stored in the gfc_consent cookie for 12 months, after which we will ask you again. If you decline, the Google Analytics scripts are not loaded and neither the Google Analytics cookies nor gfc_utm are set. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by reopening the cookie settings panel (a link will be added here once implemented).

Browser Settings: You can also control, enable, or disable cookies through your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Preferences > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data

Google Analytics Opt-Out: You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.

Impact of Disabling Cookies

  • Essential Cookies: Disabling these will prevent you from signing in, from joining or playing a game, and from having your consent choice remembered
  • Newsletter Form Cookies: Blocking these may mean the newsletter sign-up form is shown to you again after you have already seen or submitted it
  • Analytics Cookies: Declining these will prevent us from collecting usage and campaign attribution data but will not affect your ability to use the Website

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy periodically to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or our use of cookies. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
