Teams compete to make a better, funnier film than the rest

Each team of up to 10 is a film studio sharing a phone. People are shy of the camera at first. Quite soon everyone joins in, and the filming itself is funny.

It is a finished game, but it works more like a tool you make your own. Up to 20 studios can play. An evening takes about an hour and a half on average, depending on the number of studios and films. Phones join in the browser with no app or account. You need a big screen and speakers.

The whole film is made in the browser

The phone films, trims, adds title cards and records voice or background sound over the finished film. No separate camera, microphone, editing software or app. Nothing to export.

The theme is yours

It comes with three sample packs: a trailer, a commercial and a newscast. Rewrite their shot prompts, themes and award names, or write your own. Add your own title, logo, colours, music and video backgrounds.

It ends with a premiere and awards

Every film sent in plays on the big screen, and watching them together is even funnier. Studios vote on their phones and you open the envelopes. The same tool runs the show and collects the votes.

Made for a limited number of people

Many studios make a long screening. Fewer films per studio shorten it, but fill less of the evening. Past about 10 people, a studio leaves each person too little to do.

How it works

  • Each studio picks a pack off the menu. Its call sheet holds a theme drawn for that film.
  • Turn the phone sideways and hold the red button to record. Each shot stops at its limit.
  • Watch each take back, keep or retake it, and trim it. Title cards and sounds over the finished film are optional. Send the film, then start another.

How to run it

  1. On the host page, Setup's forecast shows how long the premiere will run. For a big room, set fewer films per studio.
  2. Edit packs and texts, then press Save. Choose the language in Settings: English, Estonian, Finnish, German, Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese.
  3. Before people arrive, open the Presenter on the big screen and press its speaker button once. One phone per studio scans its QR code to check in.
  4. Press Start the game. During filming you can add or take off 30 seconds, or wrap early.
  5. At the wrap, pick Studio by studio or By film type and start the premiere. Later parts wait for you, or start by themselves after a few minutes.
  6. Afterwards, replay any film or save each as a video file. Play again keeps your content for the next group.
